It was a typical Colorado day in September; warm and sunny with a slight breeze. A perfect day for a true farm to table feast at Cure Organic Farm hosted by Meadow Lark.
Veronica and the rest of her team at Meadow Lark harvested fresh produce and meat from the farm in the morning to prepare for the evenings meal. From the food to the centerpieces, every detail of the meal was grown locally. The girls lined up long banquet tables and draped white linens over them with simple cutlery and glassware. A singular strand of bistro lighting hovered above the line of tables perfectly situated between Cure Organic Farm’s fields and herb garden.
The 42 guests were greeted with an aperitif prepared by Anne and Paul Cure, the owners of Cure Organic Farm, as well as the owners themselves. While Anne and Paul led the guests on a short tour of the farm to enlightened them about the farm’s vegetables, livestock, and growing practices, the menu was prepared in a nearby kitchen operated out of an repurposed school bus. Each course was described by Veronica as it was presented, from ground to stove to table, recommending wines to pair with the delicate flavours on the plate.
As the night closed, so did the rain. Despite the weather, guests grabbed their coats and continued to eat and laugh with others, exchanging stories and memories. The night drew to a close with a warming herbal tea and a freshly picked poached pear for dessert.
